PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) is set to launch its own application or spin-off for its GoPay service in the near future. This move will separate GoPay from its main application, Gojek.
"In line with GoPay's vision to reach more users beyond the Gojek and Tokopedia apps, we plan to launch a standalone GoPay application in the near future," said Audrey Petriny, Head of Corporate Affairs at GoTo Financial, in an interview with detikcom on Monday (May 15, 2023).
Currently, the GoPay application is already available on the Google Play Store and App Store, but it is still in beta version under the name Gopay Versi Perdana. In its initial stage, the GoPay application can only be accessed in selected cities.
"The purpose of launching this initial version is to invite users to participate in the development of the GoPay application. Users can provide feedback and suggestions before the official national launch of the GoPay application," she explained.
For users in selected cities, they can enjoy several features in the initial version of the GoPay application, including free transfers, bill payments, purchasing mobile credits and game vouchers at special prices, as well as other payment features.
"For users outside the selected cities, they are currently unable to directly access the initial version of the GoPay application. However, users can still have priority to be the first to try the GoPay application when it becomes available in their city," she added.
With the introduction of a standalone GoPay application, the GoPay service within the Gojek application will remain unchanged and accessible as usual.
"One application for all your payment needs," stated the information about the GoPay application.
